Private Mobile Phone Network

Mobile phone usage on event sites continues to be a challenge due to overload or lack of coverage. The Etherlive private mobile phone unit, based on femtocell technology is a miniature mobile phone cell tower, available for use by any pre-approved Vodafone customer. The unit connects to the on-site internet link routing calls from the authorised mobile phones as though they are using the normal mobile phone network. Quick to install and setup, the unit allows sites which suffer from poor coverage or service to continue operating smoothly.

As the unit is installed by Etherlive it can be positioned to provide maximum coverage to the required area, so even sites with relatively reliable mobile phone networks but with pockets of poor coverage can benefit. Once handsets have joined the network, which is transparent to the device, call plans and any usage is billed as normal. Handsets can be added to the closed group quickly before or during the event.

The unit seamlessly integrates with Etherlive equipment already on site and can be used in conjunction with other on-site communication services including wired and wireless VoIP handsets.

Production Areas - By having a femtocell unit installed in the production area crews can designate a number of critical handsets which can continue to receive and make calls regardless of the performance of the local mobile phone masts.

VIP Areas- For those wishing to ensure VIPs have a premium service on an event site and always have good mobile service.

Demonstrations - Those who are running demonstrations on handsets for press launches can ensure maximum control of the service, minimising the risk of any embarrassing failures.
