Etherlive customer support engineer

We are seeking individuals with enthusiasm for events and technology to support and maintain customers using communications and interactive services. After suitable training you will be required to operate, support, and monitor installations along with diagnosing and fixing customer issues. You will need to display good customer engagement skills, problem solving and be able to work under your own initiative, whilst working in a small team.

Technical assistants (TAs) and Customer Support Engineers work with crew managers and site leads at customer sites to deploy networking environments during build period. During live periods TAs are responsible for providing support for customers who experience issues and troubleshooting system issues with support from experienced engineers at head office.

Contractual details

  • Wiltshire, Glasgow and London positions available
  • 4 – 6 months fixed term contract starting May – August 2014 (with potential to convert to full time) 
  • Shift patterns and weekend work

Skills and qualities

Should have basic understanding of some or all of the following:

  • IP networks
  • Wireless networks
  • VOIP and PBX configuration
  • Windows, Linux, Mac operating systems (i.e. troubleshooting basic user issues)
  • Project management frameworks

Demonstrable experience of the following would be desirable:

  • Understanding of events industry
  • Dealing with customers in a commercial environment (liaising directly with the customer to troubleshoot technical issues)
  • Communication with remote engineering support to resolve on-site issues

Qualifications:

  • Full UK driving licence with less than 6 points
  • Valid UK work visa
  • Able to work away from home for extended periods (up to 1 month typically)
  • Understanding of unsociable working hours that are necessary in the events industry
